3 months before the 2024 Catalina Classic, champion paddler & FLORENCE Test Pilot Jack Bark had an idea: he needed a rashguard for the event that had no sleeves. For him, at that level of output, it could get too hot wearing the full hooded kit. After back and forth and some R&D, here’s where we landed: a sleeveless vest with an added back pocket for gels or sunscreen and seams above the shoulder instead of underarm to avoid rub during long paddles. Jack Bark wore it and not only won the Catalina Classic, but also broke the longstanding 5 hour record. Lachie Lansdown secured the win in stock wearing it, with Toa Pere securing 2nd in stock also equipped with the vest. It’s our privilege to outfit these endurance athletes, and to make the gear that gets them where they need to go.
